Enrique es de buena familia. Le mostró a su padre la foto de su novia. Ella es de un ranchito y muy inocente. Se vestía en ropa de ciudad pero no le quedaba bien. Su padre le dijo, “Enrique, aunque la mona se viste de seda, mona se queda”. (Enrique is from a good [i.e., wealthy] family. He showed his father a picture of his girlfriend. She is from a small place in the country, and very innocent. She was dressed in city clothes but they didn’t suit her. His father said, “Enrique, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.”)
