El equipo con el balón tiene 40 segundos desde que termina una jugada para iniciar su próxima jugada. Si no cumple, tiene una multa de cinco yardas hacia atrás. A esta infracción se le llama retraso del juego. (The team in possession of the ball has 40 seconds from the end of the last play to begin its next play. If it doesn’t do so, there is a five yard penalty. This penalty is called delay of game.)
