Capital of the state of Chihuahua (the largest state in Mexico), this northern Mexico city is modern but has historical buildings and churches in its city center. It figured in both the War of Independence and the Revolution, and has several worthwhile museums. At 1,455 meters (4,774 feet) above sea level, Chihuahua City sees frost and sometimes even snow November through March. Daytime temps are usually in the high 20s to 30s (90s Fahrenheit) May through early September, when nighttime temperatures dip into the teens (70s, Fahrenheit). The rainiest months are July, August and September, averaging however just 82 mm (3.2 inches) per month. The month of highest heat and humidity is June.
