Tlaquepaque is located about 20 minutes by taxi from the center of Guadalajara. Buses are also available.
While nearby Tonala is the place for bargains,
the more expensive Tlaquepaque makes up for it with charm. The many beautiful galleries are
set in restored
colonial houses and feature high-end handicrafts and scupture. The streets are shaded and cut off to traffic and lined with galleries and just the type of Mexican restaurants
the gringos love. The handicrafts are colorful and whimsical and you will enjoy window shopping even if you are not thinking of
buying anything. A day in Tlaquepaque is a relaxing and enjoyable day away from the hustle and bustle of Guadalajara.
