Las Delicias ($$$$, Calle 5 de Mayo 1, Centro, tel. 414/273-0071) has an enclosed warm-water soaking pool; a free one-hour soak is included with lodging. Rooms on two floors have small stocked kitchens. The grounds are lovely, and this centrally located Tequis hotel has a restaurant, bar, parking, and Wi-Fi.

Suites Poza Real ($$$--$$$$, Calle Manuel Mateus 5, Centro, tel. 414/273-0454, www.pozareal.com.mx) is less spacious and perhaps more geared toward families than Las Delicias. Suites have an upstairs bedroom; downstairs in the living area are two built-in benches with cushions where small children might sleep. Kitchenettes are small but well-stocked. The tiny swimming pool in the center of the property feels exposed, and not very private. Like most Tequis accommodations, they offer a 20 to 30 percent discount midweek.

For budget travelers, Casa de los Milagros ($--$$, Calle Guillermo Prieto 12, Centro, tel. 414/273-3890) has parking across street for a couple of cars. There's a small pool in the middle of the property, surrounded by two floors of rooms. It is clean and basic, with screened windows and cable TV, but no phone.

Catercorner from the plaza alongside the church, K'Puchino ($$--$$$, Independencia 7, Centro, tel. 414/273-2482, www.kpuchinos.com.mx) is nothing special but has an espresso machine and a large menu of different coffees, as well as caramel crepes, bananas flambé, and burgers and baguettes along with traditional beef dishes.
