Puerto Penasco: Just under 100 km south of the U.S. border at Lukesville, Arizona, this town was established in the 1920s to exploit the area's exhuberant shrimp population. Although the Sea of Cortez is still considered one of the richest in the world, overfishing has reduced the shrimp catch, and today tourism is the mainstay of the economy.
