Weather in Mexico

Also see Mexico in the Rainy Season

Pacific Coast - Mazatlan to Puerto Vallarta:  November through the end of April are ideal times to visit this area. During this period it is usually sunny with tempuratures from 70 to 80. Nighttime tempuratures go down to the 60s and last year it even went down to the 50s in the daytime (very unusual), so bring a sweater. May, June and July tend to get hotter and hotter, with the rainy season coming mid July thru the end of September. During the rainy season there are torrential thunderstorms but there are usually many clear hours during the day. It's muggy and buggy during this time but the tempurature rarely rises above 95. Some people enjoy it. If this is the only time you can come, just do it!

Pacific Coast - Tijuana to Ensenada:  This area is an extension of the famous Southern California climate with great weather year-round. Winters are 50 to 70. Summers 70 to 80. The rains usually come in January. Don't expect to do any of ocean swimming. The water here is exceptionally cold year-round.

Mexico City:  With an elevation of 7,349 feet (2,240 meters), Mexico City is quite cool in the winter months (November thru February) and can get very cold at night. During the day it warms up but a coat is always advisable. It's hot in the summer, t-shirt and shorts for sure, although you can get wet!. The hottest months are April, May and June. Unfortunately, the horrendous pollution in Mexico City is equally bad all year round.

Acapulco:  Acapulco never really gets very cold although November through February are the coldest. The rainy season is the summer months and usually it only rains at night although occasionally it rains during the day. The hottest months are April, May and June. Due to the high humidity, many people use AC throughout the whole year.

Puerto Escondido:   Temperatures range from 75 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 65 to 85 in the winter, with an average temperature of 81 degrees (27 degrees Celsius). The humidity makes it feel much warmer, however, especially in the month or so preceding the summer rains (mid-June through October), and between rain shower during the wet season itself, when humidity builds. Hurricanes are less frequent here than on the Caribbean; nonetheless, hurricane season is October through mid-November

Taxco:  The weather is Taxco is very similar to Mexico City. The best time to visit would be April, May or June. Easter is especially interesting because of all the celebrations, but be sure to make your reservations early.
