A long, narrow state fronting the Pacific Ocean, agricultural Sinaloa’s fertile alluvial plains and river deltas are fed by rivers rushing down from the Sierra Madre. Mazatlan is its biggest tourist destination, with miles of beautiful beaches as well as a lovely historical district where attractive 19th and 20th century homes have been converted to hotels and restaurants. South of Mazatlan, the area around Teacapan is slated for development as a beach resort, but for now is the destination of RVers and other escapists.
