Meaning: your child’s godmother, respected female friend

Example: Mi comadre (la madrina de mi hijo Manuel) es una mujer de bien en nuestro pueblo. Yo también le digo “comadre” a mi mejor amiga, Justina, aunque no es de verdad la madrina de ninguno de de mis hijos. Se lo digo de respeto y amistad. (The godmother of my son Manuel is a wealthy woman in our town. I also call my best friend, Justina, “comadre” although she is not the godmother of any of my children. I call her that out of respect and friendship.)
